Born and raised in Milton, New York with an upbringing in musical theater and the performing arts, Lucas Neil is the youngest child of founding member and long-time drummer of eighties rock band 'The Make', Jeff Johnson. While Johnson's other children chose vocations in sensible fields, Lucas Neil preferred the company of bees, trees, and daydreams.

Neil’s musical style, an acoustic blend of Americana and indie-folk, has a palpable sense of spiritual symbolism, storytelling, and gratitude for life. his songwriting and on-stage charisma has been highly celebrated throughout coastal New England since the artist found his way to westerly, Rhode Island in recent years. Neil combines tastes of the great singer/songwriters of years past like James Taylor and Bob Dylan with the new-age musicality of acts like Gregory Alan Isakov and Blind Pilot.

Most important to the creation and experience of his music, Neil says, is an intimate relationship with our natural world, meaning the elements and creatures in our environment as well as our own psyche, bodies, and souls.

Neil has appeared as a solo act on bills with Ryan Montbleau as well as at the River Glow Arts Festival, Blackbear Music Festival, and Next-Up Music Festival.
